My specs:
Motherboard : G41M-ES2H
CPU: Intel 2 quad CPU Q8300 2.5GHz
GPU: Radeon HD 7870

Will Overclocking my CPU make in difference in gaming performance?

Solution
It is unlikely to be voltage at such a low clockspeed, tbh its prob the motherboard, the G41 is a awful over clocking chipset, its max rated speed is 333mhz FSB.

Due to the CPU having a high FSB and a low multiplier you would need a 400mhz FSB to get to just 3Ghz which is going to be a struggle/impossible on that board.
The Q8300 will be bottlenecking the 7870 so yes it is worth it.

However the G41 chipset motherboards are not known to be great overclockers, as your CPU is already running at a high fsb of 333mhz at its stock speed you might not get very far.

Worth a try though, try upping the fsb in say 10mhz stages and see how far you get. Also keep a watch on memory speeds, drop the multiplier for the memory down if you need to.

If i increase the fsb i have to drop the memory multipler to 2.00B
Is that okay?

Hmm. I raised fsb from 333 to 340 and it crashed. Any suggestions? :)

You probably need more voltage. If your bios has the option you could turn on the automatic voltage adjustment.

Make sure you have a good cpu cooler, the stock cooler wont allow much cooling before overheating. 3.0Ghz is usually possible with a half decent cooler in my experience.

It is already in auto :/

Yeah, I suspect bungz is correct.

You could try 341mhz for example. Sometimes a particular setting just isnt stable, but the next one up can be fine.. strange I know...
