Bought my kid a chromebook back in August or September. No warranty route to go. They were using it and it suddenly kind of shut down but the screen was still glowing when the lights were turned off. Tried some troubleshooting, but I can't get it to charge at all now. No lights when plugged in. Tried the refresh and power button etc. Looks like it's about as expensive to have someone replace the battery as it is to buy a new one. No issues with the screen or case etc., so I've at least been considering trying to replace the battery on my own. Wondering about the difficulty of replacing the battery on my own, and if anyone has suggestions on where to buy one. Haven't had luck finding one anywhere I've heard of, though admittedly, I don't know battery websites. :). Thanks!

Make and model Chromebook? Version, specs?

What other troubleshooting was attempted?

Can you/were you able to verify that there is no problem with the charger?

Start by going online and look for tutorials on replacing the battery for your specific Chromebook.

Not that you immediately need to tear into the Chromebook. Just get some idea of what all is involved and some sense of what you may be able to do.
Or not do.

Read/watch several DIY's if at all possible. Some may be good and accurate; others terrible and perhaps outright wrong in some manner.
