If you're going to run just the 2x4Gb parts there will be a very small overall performance improvement, but TBH not enough to justify the price, even moving up from DDR3 1600 to DDR3 2400 on my rig (Black Friday sale combined with no willpower and advanced alcohol consumption that night
) only made a small improvement.
If you're using the system for memory intensive tasks, you'll be better off with a second 8Gb stick to replace the dead one, otherwise I'd just save the cash or put it aside to partially fund a nice night out.
