Is a upgrade to the X800 XT worth it? Performance wise, etc. My setup is:

P4 3.06
Radeon 9700 Pro
Sound Blaster Live Audigy
1 Gig RDRam PC800

If you have the money, of course, it will be worth, have you seen the benchmarks???

You must play games with high res and high aa/af if you upgrade, because your system's gonna be a little slow for the video card.

To me no video card is worth $500. You'll see a performace gain IN benchmarks, but how much will you really see in current games? If a video card runs at over 30 fps, rather it's 45 fps or 450fps your eye can't tell the difference. So IMO if you card can run everything now then there is no point unless you just like the braggin rights.

Actually in First Person Shooter you can tell the difference up to 40FPS, so my goal is to maintain around 40FPS, but my FX5900 really isn't doing that.

I'll be gald to take the 5900's or 9700's off your hands, I have a 7500 that I plan to keep for a few more years as it can play my old DX7 and 8 games as well as UT2004. It's pretty funny, the 2003 3d mark more than doubles my 2001 3D mark score.. I bet even the 9100 IGP would blow me away. Oh well, good image quality and I got it for cheap

He has a 3Ghz machine. That's not "a little slow" is it?

Actually yes it is, xbit's Athlon64 3400+'s choking during their tests without aa/af.

What about with though? Nobody who buys one of these cards should be running the card without aa/af on.

I got really drunk last night and posted stuff that I had to delete this morning. I also sent out an email to just about everyone I know and I can't remember what I said so now I'm all worried.

So my hang over isn't good.

Right now my score in 3DMark2003 is around 5100. That is a stock score. I am hoping that if I upgrade to the X800 XP it will up that score. I would like to play Far Cry, UT 2004, Doom 3, Half-Life 2 with high settings and a high frame rate. With that card I should be able to.

Don't worry too much about bungholio points. And yes you will be able to play those games with that card.

LOL so true 3dmark03's so full of sh*t, it gives me like 7000 marks, even though my card's barely better than the 9700pro.
