Hi
I want to buy two Xeons for a workstation. Do you think it is worth the 130 USD difference for a 0.5Ghz increase/core ( in Turbo Mode) ? I mean one is 3.3Ghz in Turbo, the other is 3.8Ghz . Difference in money as I said.

I use it for image rendering / 3d modeling

Solution

It would be easier if you list the cpu models, now if is for rendering always is better to have more cores at the highest clock, if its worth it that depends on your workload, price/hour costs and how you charge for it.

What xeons are you talking about?

It is not an upgrade. I have to choose between them, based on a difference in the price I wrote.

It is same class, same 8 cores on both. It is just the difference in TurboMode ( 0.5Ghz increase when in Turbo ).
So 16 cores * 0.5Ghz = 8Ghz added in the end for additional 130 USD .

In base clock there is a 0.3Ghz difference . That is 16 cores * 0.3Ghz = 4.8Ghz additional in base clock
What do you think?
