Worth the wait for the Nvidia 800 desktop series?

I have been looking around now for quite a while on what GPU to get as an upgrade to my ancient GTS 240. And recently I have read that the new 800 series will be launching either this month or the next. My first choice in a card was the R9 270X , R9 280 or the GTX 760 ( would have to save a little more for the 280 and 760 though)

Would it be a wiser choice to wait, and save up for the supposed GTX 860? The 860 (from what little info Ive found) looks to be a mid range 'enthusiast' GPU. Similar to the 280 and 760 if Im not mistaken?

Living in South Africa cards here are relatively expensive, the R9 270x comes to $245 and the R9 280 as well as the GTX 760 come close to $320....

So again would it be better to wait for the 800 series and save up for them? Or do have some other GPU you recommend?

Games I would/do plan on playing are Far Cry 4, Witcher 3, Assassin Creed IV, Battlefield Hardline, GTA V and Skyrim ( ENB/Texture mods )

My Specs if you need
Monitor - 1920x1080
CPU - i5 4590
RAM - 8GB 1600MHz
MOBO - Asrock H61M MicroATX
OS - Windows 8 64bit.

Any and all feedback is appreciated.

September 19th is the date. It's highly recommended that you wait until at least then.

Reports are showing the GTX 980 at about 10% faster than a GTX 780 Ti and a lot cheaper ($500 US, compared to $650 for the 780 Ti). The GTX 970 should be about $400 US with performance around the Titan, all the while using little power relatively. The GTX 960 may be out in October.

What do you think the 750Ti will drop to pricewise?

My problem will be pricing though. Do you know of any information about a mid range 900 series? One that can play games at 1080p decent settings without breaking the bank?

Thanks for the previous info! Helped loads
