This case is actually pretty weird. I am finding litlle to no info concerning this CPU that I have and I simply wanted to know if it is worth upgrading. I will soon own a R9 280 2GB or 4GB GPU and I wanted to know if I would have to upgrade my CPU and if yes what model exactly considering that my motherboard is the MSI 760GM-P23,

Well, you have an AM3+ motherboard. The thing is the 8100 is an old core, and there are much better ones such as the 8320. These are still relatively cheap, and can be overclocked past many of it's higher ups, which are essentially (I'm not to up to date on my AMD's) the same chip with a higher clock rate. Seeing you have an OC board, I presume you are using it. Also, why a 280?

Isn't it the best choice for a mid range this one or the GTX 670 ?

I hope you are talking about the 970, not the 670. Heres a link the the comparison. The 290 appears to be on par with the 970, though it can beat it if overclocked, and can benefit the 970 in the same respect. The 280 is really a dead market. The normal upgrade is from a 265 or 270 to a 290, as cost wise, it's fairly indifferent, with the 280 filling a very niche market that doesn't really show very much. Go for a 970 or a 290.

Oh yeah I was not talking about the 970 but the 960 which is comparable to the 280. Both 970 and 290 are too high end and priced for such a build. I feel like I should prob go for one of these mid-range card (high mid-range).

There is a pretty big price gap between the 280 and the 960 here in Australia. Not sure whether it is the same where you are, but both are fairly expensive. Look around, a second hand 290 or 970 might be within your price range if a 960 is.
