Just wondering if it's worth the upgrade from my i7 2600s to a ryzen 1600. I use my pc for gaming most of the time.
My specs
I7 2600s
8gb ram
gtx 1060

My plan is to build a upgrade for me and give my pc to my Dad he plays Gta 5 most of the time

His specs
amd 6300
8gb ram
gtx 960

Seems like it's worth it over the lower-clocked "S" version. And he'd probably be happy with the horsepower of the i7 over the 6300 for sure.

There will ALWAYS be something better right around the corner. Cars, computers, phones, etc. Coffee Lake, IMO, won't be a huge step up over Kaby Lake considering what they've done in the past. Sure, prices on 6-cores might drop a tiny bit, but it won't blow Ryzen out of the water either.

Yea
He keep keep that computer until Coffee Lake comes out in 4 months with Z370 Motherboards.

Average fps is a little higher and more consistent, I was also able to turn things like view distance up a bit in GTA. I only tried out Witcher 3 and GTA 5 so far gonna give squad a go later on. I also built it in a Fractal Design Define Mini C case, so the noise level are way more quite compared to my old case.

I am very happy with it so far. Had a few scares with reinstalling windows but I figured it out in the end.
