Hello, i bought a GTX 980 a couple of months ago and it runs great.
But now, will it be worth upgrading my CPU aswell? To maybe a i7 4790k?

I would need a new Motherboard if i'm going for intel, which is what i want,
so is it worth upgrading from a FX 8320 to a i7 4790k, and replace the Motherboard with a
ASUS Maximus VII Ranger?

I want i7 because i do other stuff than gaming.

GPU: NVIDIA GTX 980 MSI Twin Frozr V | 4GB GDDR5
CPU: AMD FX-8320 Vishera 8-Core | 3.5GHz
Motherboard: ASUS M5A99X EVO R2.0
RAM: 16GB DDR3

Or what do you recommend i do?

Solution
well your hyper 212 evo should at least get you to 4.4ghz.... i would start with that. the fx 8 core overlclocks nicely so there really isn't much reason not to overclock. its reasonably easy.
what overclock do you have on the 8320? it really depends. are you getting 60fps in all games with minimal stutter?

i would overclock that fx 8 core as close to 5.0ghz as possible and just live with it for another year or so. you would definitely get a gaming performance boost by going with intel but it wouldn't be a good price/performance ratio boost.

I don't have any overclock, it's just 3.5ghz. I've never overclocked before, and my cooler is a CM Hyper EVO 212.
I'm not getting 60fps all the time in GTA 5 on ultra/very high, and i'm running 1080p. I don't expect all games to run 60fps, but i heard people can run it ultra/very high with 60 fps on a GTX 980 and i7 4790k.

Same with Dying Light, it runs poorly on my AMD CPU, but that's because it is poorly optimized for AMD CPU's i guess.
I don't know, maybe i should wait till a lot of CPU intense games begins to lag 🙂
