Hey all,
Got a E8400 3.00 ghz intell duel core with 4 gigs of ram and 260 GTX video card. It works perfectly fine and can play all my games now. I just wanted to play the new Rome 2 and there my pc seems like its needs a bump up. There are some posts out there in the Rome 2 forums where people are saying they are actually having better luck with older processers. So was thinking of getting like a one of these guys and bumping ram to say 8 or 12

Opinions?

The GTX750ti is a nice jump in graphics.

If you only game, and do little multitasking, then 4gb is ok.
But, if your os is 64 bit capable, then 8gb is better.
Your E8400 was a good chip in it's day.
Today, the G3258 3.2 is also a dual core cpu that costs $70 and has twice the performance at stock, and nearly 3x when overclocked.
I would not invest more in an old platform once it no longer works for you.

Adding a GTX750ti is fine, since it can be easily carried forward to a new build.
Try that out first and see how you do with Rome-2

You're on the right track with the memory upgrade to 8GB. I would also suggest overclocking the CPU (get a decent cooler). You should be able to hit 3.8 Ghz without half trying and every little bit counts with an older processor. Between the GTX 750 Ti, the extra RAM and extra CPU speed you should be fine with reasonable settings.
