Question Worth upgrading psu?

Hi all,

I am about to upgrade my system to a ryzen 3900x, new mobo an ram. Will keep my 1080ti.

My current psu is an Antec truepower quattro 850w from 2009. Wondering for peace of mind if it's best to retire my old friend? I've had no issues, but figure it will be easier with the mobo out of the case.

If yes, what psu do you all recommend? No overclocking will be involved.

10 years old? Yes, it would be a very good idea. That was a good PSU back in it's day, but it is not worth the risk to your new hardware to roll the dice on it after that many miles.

What is your budget for the replacement unit?

Are you WANTING another 850w unit, because a high quality 650-750w unit is more than enough for that configuration. 750w would be preferable. Nothing wrong with getting an 850w unit other than it's not necessary and is more expensive.

Yea I would replace any 10-year-old PSU if you are using high tier components.

I would reccomend a good 650w 80+ gold or better.

I'm thinking of a Corsair RM750X for the new psu. When I bought the 850 it was to power a 4870x2 which was extremely power hungry.

Budget, if I can keep the price under $250 aud for the new psu that would be good.

Yes, the old girl is from 2008/2009. From my original build. I still have my Antec 1200 case which I love.
