Hi guys! I just bought a new system and i have a 1080p monitor on 144Hz with freesync with Rx 5700xt. I just want to know is it worth it going to a 1440p 144Hz freesync monitor?

Solution
I’m another that won’t go back to 1080p after switching to 1440p for my desktop. I’ve recently been playing the same games on a 1080p 144Hz laptop with an RTX2060 and 1440p 144Hz desktop with an RTX 2080S. Running 1440p at medium/high settings looks significantly better than 1080p at high/ultra settings. However even with a 2080S in games like COD MW I have to carefully choose settings to achieve an average of over 120fps @ 1440p.
With an RX 5700 XT, you will not hit 144 FPS in any demanding titles, and if you want 144 FPS in eSports titles then I think the 5700 XT might handle it(depends on the game). So, the answer to your question is it depends on what games you'd like to play at 1440p 144 FPS. If they are eSports games, I don't see how having higher resolution would improve your gameplay, and if it's for better graphics on AAA titles, your GPU won't handle most of them.

I want to hit 60fps in AAA games and for the esports titles the video card can handle 144hz.But my main question was, in visual quality 1440p is such big pf a jump over the 1080p?

I wouldn’t go back from 1080p. The difference isn’t gigantic but it’s a lot nicer, even for general desktop usage. Also for FPS titles you can always drop settings

what kind of games do you play?

sight seeing, eye candy games (i.e, witcher, dark souls idk) would deeply benefit from the higher resolution.

but, since fps tanks, fps games like csgo or call of duty wont be happy with that decision.
I play a lot of League of Legends, sometimes CSGO and Overwatch and some other easports, and for AAA titles, i just want to play everyting :)), and i don't know how to see if the 1440p has such a big impact visualy than 1080p, so i just want to know if someone who have both of them or had both of them can say if is a big diff.

I have 9700K and GTX 1070 with a QHD monitor, capable of 144 Hz.
With Battlefield V, unless I upgrade my graphic card. I don't have a chance to play more than 100 Hz (My fps is between 65 to 90 depending on map), and I seriously started to think playing the game in HD resolution, because fps matters - seriously matters.

So, the answer to your question, if you are making this upgrade mostly for multiplayer FPS, don't do it. Or do it but yet accept to play the game with lower fps or changing the resolution back to HD (that makes the upgrade unnecessary for gaming) or also upgrade your graphic card. It is your choice.

I've got a 5700xt as well, and had a 24" 1440p monitor for about 2 weeks until it developed a stuck pixel.

It can handle it, and it looks great.

for AAA titles you may be around 100 fps, which for me was fine. CSGO, r6 seige, overwatch all ran over 150 fps.

Ideally I would have a 4k 60hz monitor for slower paced or racing games, and 1080p 240hz for esports.

1440p / 144hz is the happy middle ground, but I'd still prefer the 1080p 240hz.

Doesn’t really. If you’re playing online whoever has the best ping has the advantage no matter how fast your monitor is.
