Would 2 8gb sticks of DDR4 work in dual channel if they don't come in a kit?

So I've just gotten my pc components and instead of a 2x4 gb I got 1x8gb. I was wondering if I got another stick of 8gb, that is exactly the same, would I be able to run in dual channel.

It could or it couldn't, that's the gamble when you buy non matched RAM.

It may be possible to run them in dual channel. But you may also encounter compatibility problems.
Only modules from same kit are guarantied to work together without issues.
