I've read that the i7-6700K supports DDR4 RAM up to 2133 MHz and was wondering whether if I was to get RAM with higher speed to for example 3200mhz then would it still run at that speed or not?
Your memory will default to 2133 no natter what you buy.
Anything over that is overclocking the memory.
I have built several with a 7700K that all ran 3000 memory with just enabling XMP profile but have not tried a 6700K.

So the amount of speed that is originally on the RAM can reach its insisted speed with overclocking on XMP? I heard overclocking isn't too safe so i don't know what i should do as prices are similar but may run at higher speeds. Also what if you buy and add RAM that is over the limit of 2133 but do not overclock it, would it just stay at 2133?
