Would a 760k be a good cpu for a GTX 960?

I currently have an A8-6500 and I know that the upgrades for the FM2 socket are not very good. I think that the 760k is probably the best CPU for this socket type but I would like to know if this would be a good upgrade. I would also like to know if it would bottleneck the 960 at all.

Yes at some point the Athlon will throttle a 960 GTX but if your realistic with Display Settings and FPS then you should be perfectly happy. Don't expect 1080P or larger @ max settings and 60+ FPS because you cant get that with any AMD CPU.

I am sort of aiming for the 1080p 45-60 fps that the 960 can deliver. Would it be capable of that?

Completely depends on what games you're playing. That CPU is going to struggle to maintain decent fps in large multiplayer games like Battlefield 4 or various MMO's. If you're looking to play large scale competitive online games and maintain ~60fps you'll have to move beyond the FM2 socket.
