Would a FX 8300 be good for gaming for the upcoming 3years

I'm deciding on which CPU to buy between the Amd FX8300 and the core i3 6100 and all negative and positive responses are kindly accepted ✊

Core i3 for sure. The FX 8300 is now 5 years old (roughly), so adding another three years to that will make it obsolete. Especially with the core i3 outperforming it in most games already.

The FX8xxx is already struggling and beaten by the i3 6100. The 6100 also gives you upgrade options, there is no reasonable upgrade from an FX8xxx

I agree I would probably go for the i3 as well. For one you have a platform you can upgrade with should you choose to switch to an i5 or i7. The i3 also seems to outperform the 8300 in a lot of newer games. Look at this bf1 bench its dx11, performs worse at dx12 intel does too to be fair.
