Would a i5-4690 run games the same as a i7?

Does the i7 give any increased fps or such? over my i5-4690

The i5 is more than fine for any game right now, and for some more years atleast. With i7, you do get a couple frames extra, it ofc is better than i5, but the difference is not that big as to overlook i5's value/money. In a nutshell, if you have an i5, don't upgrade to i7, the benefit is not worth the price premium. If you're planning to buy, i7 does have a sleek advantage, and streams content better than i5, so if the budget allows w/o compromising on other parts, feel free to get an i7.

Maybe 1-2 fps more on the i7 depends on the rest of your rig but no an i7 makes almost no difference in games and it is not worth the price for a gamer your money is better spent on a more powerful graphics card.

Okay thanks, I'm just worried my i5-4690 will become weak and won't be able to play games smoothly as possible in a year or so.

Yes of course the i5 has plenty of power for that gpu no bottlenecks at all.

4690 is fine to not bottleneck any GPU even in quad SLI/ CF right now in the market. As said, its fine for any game,now or upcoming, for a couple more years atleast, you're just looking for some extra frames with i7.

We wouldent be telling you to get the i5 over the i7 if it dident run every game smoothly. You could use a fx 6300 or an i3 haswell with that gpu and it would still probably run every game out smoothly.

You're gonna get your garuantee void lol, try maxing out BF4 or Crysis 3 with i3 or FX 6. There's a reason people buy i5 over i3. It would definately bottleneck, take my word on that. You're not going to get 60 FPS on maxed out titles with i3 or FX 6.

And more cores (in AMD) do not necessarily relate to more performance. AMD FX 6 is technically a 6 core due to six logical cores, but performance wise its a tri core, ever wondered why it loses to 'dual' core i3?
