Would a raid 5 configuration work with this setup, and would I see a performance boost?

I would be using this motherboard's with no raid card:
Motherboard: Asus M5A99FX PRO R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard

and three of these drives:
Storage: Western Digital RE3 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive

Would I see a performance increase with this raid, should I use a different raid, or just no raid at all. BTW this not for a server or nas.

RAID5 is not for speed. You won't see an improvement unless your previous setup was 10 years old.

RAID5 is best for hot sites that need 99% uptime and cant afford to lose data.

RAID10 would be better if you want speed and more stability than what is provided by RAID0

As far as I can tell, that board doesn't support raid. So how would you set up a raid without a card?
Also, if this is for a gaming rig, instead of three of those drives, consider getting one of them and an ssd such as this:

It costs less than two of those WD 1TB drives, and would probably give you better performance than even 3 mechanical drives in raid 0.
