My LGA1150 motherboard died recently, I had a i5 4670k @ 4.2 gHz. Since the motherboard died I'm going to build a new pc.
I'm currently considering a 1600X (also want to OC) would that be a downgrade for mostly gaming with occasional video editing?

For gaming it probably wouldn't be a big upgrade, except maybe in some CPU heavy games. For video editing it should be significantly better. Definitely not a downgrade.

Is there a price difference between a 1600 and 1600X? If so, you can typically overclock the 1600 to about the same extent as the 1600X. And the 1600 comes with a stock cooler.

Actually the 1600X is like 10$ cheaper

I would wait till you can get the 2600.
There's like maybe 5% difference in fps between an 1600X and 2600. And that's with a powerful graphics card like a 1080; weaker cards would show even less of a difference. Difference in video editing performance would also be single digit percentage. You're probably not even going to really notice a difference between the two unless you're really looking for it. If the OP doesn't want to spend the extra $60 I'd have no problem recommending the 1600X.
