So, over the past few weeks I've been rather skeptical of a rat/trojan/whatever on my PC. I've had a lot of weird occurrences with things acting up, my gpu getting to hot temps and usages even when nothing is going on, overall slow pc, and just overall a bunch of weird things indicating a virus or rat or something. I've ran multiple virus scans on numerous anti-viruses (even getting free trials for some to try the premium version of it) But none of them uncovered anything out of the norm.
It would in some ways make sense for me to get a rat, because I often find myself downloading things from "friends" or people I know online and trying out various cheats on video games like the idiot I am. My PC is very powerful and is classified as I guess a "gaming pc" It has an i7 something processor (very new) a gtx 1070, 16gb ram, ect.`
So it being slow even when performing normal tasks like browsing is quite simply, not possible. I use this rig simply for gaming and installing basic applications and browsing and such, I don't store anything important and even if I lost all the data I wouldn't really care, thats why I'm not too worried about the consequences of resetting my pc/ re installing windows with a USB.
I've had a problem with this pc about a year ago where I messed up smth while resetting my pc (I think I turned the power off or smth like an idiot) and it was stuck in an endless loop of rebooting and having stuff on the screen, so I did what the suggestions on this website told me and reinstalled windows with a copy of it from a USB I made on my laptop.
This fixed the problem, so I'm starting to think that the only way I can either get rid of the rat (or just speed up my pc in general because something is def slowing it down) is to do the same thing again, so I don't really care about losing data or anything but what I am wondering about is whether or not installing a new clean slate of windows will even get rid of the rat. By either resetting my pc through the steps or doing a usb reset, would this actually get rid of the rat (assuming I have one)?
This is what I'm wondering, I don't know an insane amount about this stuff and so I can't really get my head around what to do, I don't care about losing all my data and stuff so I'd be fine resetting my pc I just don't know if it'll get rid of my problem or not for sure. Please respond.
