Would an Ati Radeon 4870 work ok with an Gigabyte EP41 - UD3L?

Hi all like the title says I'm after a Ati Radeon 4870 512mb ddr5 - will this work ok with the gigabyte motherboard EP41-UD3L?

pcie is supposed to be backwards/forwards compatible, but it isn't really. Version 2.1 has different power requirements and brakes the chain. The card is 2.0 and from what I can tell the board is 1.0, so it SHOULD work, but I can't say for certain.

it should be supported but better to choose same gigabyte vga model.
