Would an HDMI to DVI cable be able to run 144 Hz on my 144 Hz max monitor?

I recently bought this Acer monitor:

Let me provide a little background knowledge first: I own an Asus ROG GL503V gaming laptop that has a Core i7 7700 HQ CPU and a GTX 1060 graphics card. I am trying to connect this laptop, which has the following ports (listed on the website):

Four USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports
HDMI 2.0
Mini DisplayPort 1.2 ports

To the Acer monitor I listed above. Now, I was able to connect an HDMI and run 60Hz at 1080p, which is still good, but I ordered this monitor specifically for it's 144 Hz capability. So, I went on a confusing journey to find a way to connect a DL DVI-D cable from my laptop to my monitor, as the DVI cable is the only way to run 144 Hz. I tried to figure out a way to get a mini DisplayPort to DVI-D adapter (M/F) and connect it from there. but that also runs 60 Hz. I then was guided to the mini DisplayPort to DVI-D USB powered adapter, but those were upwards of $100, which is money I am not about to spend for something that was both described as faulty and might not even run 144 Hz. So, I went back to the simpler way of doing this, which was just HDMI to DL DVI-D. So the question is, would this be able to run my monitor at a 144 Hz refresh rate? If not, would it be able to get close (120 Hz)? If neither of those are viable or will work, is there any possible way to run 144 Hz with my setup?

Thanks.

Bummer, thanks for clarifying though. So, are there any monitors at all that are 120 Hz or 144 Hz that can run it on HDMI? Or at least something that is above 60 Hz

Yes, there's a list in section 7 of that thread.
