My friend is looking for a cheap PC build, and i have my eyes on an Optiplex 3010 barebones and a i7-3770 for a total of $70. But im not sure if the 3770 would work on the 3010's motherboard as I've been reading that it won't work. Im ofc going to upgrade the PSU n all but would it even work ?

Just a couple of FYI's the Dell 3010 has a max memory of 16Gbs's. It has just two memory slots.

If your going to jump into a Dell OEM please make sure you get the desktop model and not the SFF.

A Dell 990 sells for the same and has four memory slots to at least take it to 32Gb's of system memory.

There is a sweet deal on ebay right now on a Dell 990.

I posted it to another forum member but he said he had a case already. All the system needs is an SSD and an OS installed. I almost bought myself but it would just go on the parts table as I'm so overstocked as it is.

I'd rather pass on the info to the right person who is in need.
