[SOLVED] Would an i7 ivy bridge upgrade my system?

Hi all, I have an i5 3550 ivy bridge cpu which is holding back my gtx1050 according to my sim. Question is would my meagre budget be usefully used by upgrading to an i7 3rd gen cpu please? Any suggestions will be appreciated, many thanks sterion70

Without knowing what you play and at what resolution its hard to say.

However there's not a big difference in performance with lets say the i7 2600k

i would say it wouldnt be economical to update that system.

Just start saving for a new Mobo/CPU/RAM combo

That CPU is absolutely not holding back your GTX 1050; the GTX 1050 is a pretty weak card. I would get a better GPU like a GTX 1060 6GB/980Ti/1070 off ebay

I just researched the i5 cpus particular the 3570 and 4570 to pair up with my 1050 gtx(bought 4570 and awaiting its arrival) and from what I could see neither will bottleneck the 1050gtx by a good margin. There is a mere 100mhz difference between the 3570 and 3550 so I would say your good.
