I would like to play games like Battlefield 4, Call of Duty: Ghosts, Watch Dogs, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, FIFA 14, Saints Row IV, Splinter Cell: Blacklist, Crysis 3 and upcoming games at least at medium resolution and settings.

you are wrong.a gtx 650 will be able to play bf4 at high 1080p at 30+ fps with no problems, its not that but.i had intel hd 4600 and i could play bf4 at low(with the lowest resolution)

Ok, what about an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660? Is it a good mid-range video card?

BUY THIS BUY THIS DO YOURSELF A GODDAMMNED FAVOR AND BUY THIS QUICK

http://slickdeals.net/permadeal/106760/newegg---video-cards-powercolor-radeon-hd-7870-ghz-108-after-30-rebate-msi-radeon-hd-7870-ghz-122-after-30-rebate-msi-twin-frozr-radeon-hd-7850

this is the very best deal you can get great card, better than the 650ti by loads.

Yep, it's a good middle end card

This 7850 is an excellent value

http://pcpartpicker.com/part/msi-video-card-r7850twinfrozr2gd5oc

So is this 7870 (the better cooler would make it worthwhile over the reference design)

http://pcpartpicker.com/part/msi-video-card-r78702gd5toc

For games like BF4 you'd need a pretty decent CPU especially for the 64 player multiplayer

EDIT: should have linked a 2GB model but instead linked a 1GB model of the 7850, oops

DID YOU PEOPLE SEE MY POST? ADVISE HIM TO HOP ON THAT DEAL 7870 is 108$ after rebate of course

Here are the specs of the mid-range custom made gaming desktop computer that I would like to have:

i5 (I want Intel please)
8GB
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 maybe? (I want NVIDIA please)

i understand you want nvidia..thats fair, but i want you to know any radeon HD 7870 will blow the 660/660ti clear out the water, so high up, that know one will ever see it again and would have no evidence of its existence thereafter. lol

I have no budget but maybe someday I could have that computer.

if you have no budget get a 700 series GTX card?...and i5 and 8GB ram might start to get held back a bit by a mid range card IMO

Really those AMD cards are the best deal right now, but if you want to stick with Nvidia then this should suffice

Not really a great deal since an AMD combo will save you a fair amount of money

Feel free to replace the CPU and mobo with a 3570k+z77 board or a 4670k+z87 board, if your budget allows for it, I'd step up to a GTX 760

If you can extend your budget this could be worth considering (still stuck with an Nvidia card, not priced very competitively though)

Just something else to consider

Ok, thank you.

2gb 7870ghz edition for $108 after coupon code "NEWEGGBLKFRI5C"
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

thats the same thing as a 270x and vastly cheaper and competes with the gtx660

although i did see a powercolor 7870LE(tahiti chip) the other week for $129.... they sold out quick but the 7870le competes with the 660ti. i would consider these lowest kepler/tahiti chips to be solid mid range cards with the full kepler/tahiti chips being mid/high end.... anything below the regular 7870/660 is low/mid range with the 650ti/7790 being the best low end cards.
