Hi, as the prices are going down I think about upgrading my gtx 980 on my DB rig :

- e5 2697 v3 (@3.8 ghz turbo on all cores) - i'ts old hasswell-e (one core performance at e.g. 2240 in passmark so not that bad and very similar to 1920x/1950x )
- 4x8GB (it's @3200 15cl but used at xeon's available speeds)
- @1440 144hz monitor

Will my cpu bottleneck the the gtx1080ti?

Solution
Well 60fps is guaranteed no matter the resolution.
Not sure will it push higher, since my E3-1225v3 isnt used 100% yet 4c/4t.
I think someone listed xeon=Desktop perfomance wise on passmark thread.

Thanks, I have seen the diagram of performance for v3 but it was for Xeon e3 and not e5 :) Based on results my cpu is a bit worse in one core performance than the best xeon e3 v3 and 10% better than 5960x (8core).
Multi core performance is not a problem (I guess) cause I leave like 11 cores available ( for VMs I need like 4-5 max and I don't play games when I'm using them ;) ).
In the bottleneck thread 5960x /5930k are marked as Magenta (Pink) = Bottlenecking In Only Worst Case Senarios but not sure if it is for OC cpu or not ...

I used to have 4960x with OC and one core performance was like 2400-2500 and it is marked as Blue = Semi-Bottlenecked in CPU Demanding Games yet it's much additional 10-12% more than I have now... (on the other hand 4960x has only 6 cores).
