Would Frame Rate Target Control (FRTC) be counter-productive?

I mean, if you're limiting your frames - you're telling the GPU to not work as hard - which in turn, I think, would cause your GPU to not give out the same FPS it was, right?

I mean if my GPU was throwing out say, 25fps with no FRTC enabled, would it get worse if it was enabled to say, limit to 30?
Because now my GPU isn't pulling so much power and all that it did to put 25fps out - now with me limiting the raw power further, it should worsen the FPS output...

I'm hoping I'm wrong cause the inclusion of this feature wouldn't make sense otherwise.

NO it would not it works as hard as it can to get the target just does not work any harder it actually works pretty sweet but if your only getting 25 fps frtc is not on your mind it realoly is for people getting 90 when they only need 60

It is something that people use since long ago. People have their own reason as why to use frame rate control. In the past you need third party tool to do that. Now AMD offering such control with their new crimson software suit.

Actually AMD started offering FRTC in Catalyst Control Center awhile ago.

Haven't use radeon for a long time so i don't really remember when they add FRTC to their suite.

Got it, thanks! My card's the PowerColor R9 280 and with Syndicate I hover around 25-35fps. Guess I don't want FRTC enabled then.
