Hello friends, I am currently running
Patriot Viper Steel Series DDR4 16GB (2 x 8GB) 3200MHz Performance Memory Kit - PVS416G320C6K

on

GIGABYTE Z390 Gaming SLI (Intel LGA1151/Z390/ATX/2xM.2/Realtek ALC1220/Intel LAN/HDMI/Motherboard)

I am looking to upgrade and was trying to decide if it is best to buy the same set I have and run 4x8 or if its better to get the 2x16? Also if I do get the 2x16 of the same model can I run it in addition to the 2x8 I already have for a total of 48g? Would appreciate any suggestions. Currently playing Escape from Tarkov and it uses most of my 16g by it self causing minor lag when I have something running on my second monitor.

My Specs:
i7-9700k CPU
RTX 2060 GPU
gigabyte z390 sli gaming MOBO
500g m.2 970 evo SSD
2tb 7200rpm HD

Thank you very much in advance for your time and advice!

It depends. It might, or it might not work.

Going for 4x8 is the most safest bet, at least we know that will definitely work.

32 GB in itself is overkill. Anything more than that is just insane. I have 2x16 gb sticks myself and to this day I don't know why I went for 32 GB. I barely use more than 16.

Thank you very much for the quick response. Just curious is the reason for not going with the 16 x 2 because 48 is over kill or because it wouldn't work properly with that configuration?
