Hi everyone,

I'm currently running a PC with the following specs and details:

  • GeForce GTX 1070 8192MB
  • Intel Core i7-6700K 4.0GHz (Skylake)
  • Corsair Hydro H60 V2
  • Motherboard Gigabyte GA-Z170XP-SLI Intel Z170
  • Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 PC4-24000C15 3000MHz Dual Channel Kit
  • Cougar STX 650W 80 Plus
  • Samsung 250GB 750 EVO SSD
  • Seagate 1TB 7200RPM SATA

I'm looking into upgrading my GPU to a 3080/3070 for example or even a 6800XT depending on availability, my question is: is it worth it just upgrading the GPU or would you replace everything and get a new system overall?

I've seen some websites like the CPU Bottleneck calculator and since I play mostly in 1080p or 1440p, it seems my CPU would bottleneck it a bit? Plus I'd be missing out on those SAM/BAR and gen4 SSD techs?

EDIT: Just for some insight on my interests, I generally prefer higher FPS (144+) than utter quality and 4K stuff.

What are your thoughts?

Thank you so much!

If you preffer 144fps,then i suppose you are playing FPS and BR games like CSGO,valorant, fortnite, warzone, etc.
In that case, there is no point upgrading your GPU since those are far more cpu intensive games and your 1070 is no weakling.
You can keep the ram, good thing its 3000mhz which is acceptable with Ryzen if you decide to go with it.
