I have a gtx 980 g1
I5 4690k
Maybe the asus maximus vii hero ( if i find something better at the same price ill get it. Open for suggestions)

And for the case i might be getting one kf the nzxts

I wanted to know if ill need a liquid cooler like the h100, or a fan cooler is the same . I might not be overclocking as there might be no need i might get another gtx 980.

Thanks

Well, liquid cooling is, in general, optional. If you like it you go for it but you could also get an air cooler (stock cooler is useless) and get perfectly fine temps with it. You can also overclock pretty well with air cooler. So it is all up to you.

I also have an i5-4690K and a Thermalright HR-02 air cooler, my temps reach up to 45 degrees under stress so there's a fair bit of room for overclocking.

Yes the cooler is good and you will have a fair bit of room for overclocking. The motherboard is also okay but if you want to overclock we should also check if your power supply is good enough. What's your PSU?

Well it is a good motherboard for a price though I would just go with MSI Z97 Gaming 5 since I don't see a reason for a motherboard that expensive as you picked. And about PSU it's still good to check exact model since you could find a 850w modular gold certified PSU which is bad. (The gold is only efficiency rating)

Not every Corsair is the same, there's AX/AXi/HXi series which are really good and then there's the CS/CX/CXM/RM/VS series which are really mediocre. I wouldn't overclock with the latter.

Regarding the MOBO, well I think MSI Z97 Gaming 5 is more than enough for you, it has three PCIe 3.0 x16 slots (your Asus has two). It supports 3way CrossFire and 2way SLI. It has an M.2 port as well.

You can check the specifications yourself but I feel like it has everything you need for the 1/2 of the price. I would pick the MSI here unless you plan to do 3-way SLI in the future.

It has an additional SPDIF output and an additional ASMedia chipsets which allow for 2 more SATA connections and a few more USB ports. Not really much of a difference if you ask me.

8 True phase VRM which is very good.

It has better overclocking potential, more gaming friendly features and powerful power phase for better stability.

(Compared to the MSI Z97 Gaming 7)

In my opinion it is one of the best motherboard around It's price range.

Definitely. Better power phase helps for overclocking, especially if you want low voltages, high frequencies and lower temps.

Nice. That motherboard is pretty much perfect for gaming; features and aesthetics are brilliant. 10 phase design (8+2) is excellent. Apparently it has amazing audio (high-standard sound card audio). H100i is at the top of AIO watercoolers. Love Phantoms. Enjoy!
