Question Would i notice a difference in gaming if i upgraded to 2400mhz from 2133mhz ?

Current setup...
I dont wish to play with overclocking as i dont know to much about it, i just want to know if the swap in ram will improve gaming ?
I have no problems in games atm but noticed that most i7 7700k setups ran 2400mhz.
Also i have xmp enabled in bios but when i check task manager it only shows ram running at 2133 ? i read 2133 ram should run at 2666 when xmp is enabled... ?

Intel i7-7700K @ 4.5 ghz ( turbo boost )
ASUS ROG STRIX Z270H
16GB HyperX Fury DDR4 @ 2133 mhz
Samsung 860 EVO 500 GB x 2
EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 SC Gaming ACX 3.0 Black Edition

There wont be a big bump in performance going from 2133 to 2400. It would not be worth the additional cost. For an AMD CPU, then it would be good to look at higher speed RAM, but for Intel CPUs, it really does not matter much for gaming.

thanks for swift reply .... do you have any idea why xmp profile #1 enabled in my bios still shows 2133 .... i read it should overclock it to 2666mhz.
i forgot to add my mobo which is ASUS ROG STRIX Z270H
If upgrading to faster ram makes no difference then adding another 16gig of the same ram speed i got, would this be better for now/future gaming and would xmp make 32gig ram run faster than 2133?

Totally disagree. You wouldn't see much going from 2133 to 2400 but going from 2133 to 3200 or 3600 would give you a very nice bump in some situations. Not all game engines scale with faster RAM but Fallout 4 and Arma 3 are examples of two that do.

What is the model of your RAM? What speed is it rated at?

Use CPU-Z to check the speed.

Under the Memory tab you will see DRAM frequency. You double that number to get your RAM speed. So 2666 will show as 1333, 3200 shows as 1600 etc.

You are cherry picking a little bit here showing only two games.

Here is a comparison from techpowerup with the 8700k. The memory controller is the same as the 7700k. For gaming, there was a 4% difference from 2133 to 3000mhz. From 2133mhz to 4000mhz the difference was 5%.

For gaming on Sky/Kaby/Coffee lake CPUs, RAM speed does not have much of an impact.

If the RAM is rated for 2133mhz, than that is what it will show if XMP in enabled. As Titan said, you can use CPUz to get the specific information on your RAM.

As for adding more RAM, there is not a game available that uses more than 16gb of RAM. Any unused RAM will just sit idle doing nothing. I do not recommend going with 32gb for a gaming rig.

If you feel like you have to get more RAM, get a faster kit and sell your current kit. But you wont see any real world difference in most games other than a couple fps difference on a benchmark. Your money would be better spent upgrading another component such as your GPU.

I will hold off upgrading ram and save for new gfx card thanks
