Would it be a bad idea to turn fans off completely?

On the cooling side my rig consists of NH-D15 for CPU and MK-26 for VGA coolers and a bunch of Noctua fans on the case. Currently they are set to work at very low speeds until things get really hot (45-50°C) at which fans start to spin gradually faster.

Would it be a bad idea to make all fans stop altogether when temps are under 45°C or so?

YES.

Without air flow the components in your system will burn up and you will have to spend money. Never turn off fans that are on your GPU cooler, CPU cooler, or power supply.

If fan noise is your problem you can remove the side panel on your computer which allow more air for the fans to move.

I might as well try that. My biggest concern is this scenario: I have my PC idle for 24 hours (for some reason) and fans are likely to stay off throughout. Is it possible that relatively hot air stays in and damages the motherboard? Well there are passively cooled PCs and all, so maybe that's not a feal concern.

And to make things clear, I wouldn't call Noctua 140 mm case fans @ 600rpm loud. Just thinking about alternative options. If I play a demanding game for a few hours straight, CPU doesn't get over 55°C and GPU over 45°C so cooling itself isn't definitely a problem.

One weird thing with these case fans is that on the Noctua's website their minimum rpm should be 300 but mine can't go below 600. Would adding the included LNA "unlock" this "feature?"
