Question Would it be fine to plug in an 8 pin cable (its not 6+2 pin - but it is a gpu power cable) into a 6 pin power port on my gpu?

my psu only has 2 8 pins for gpu. my gpu uses 1x6 pin and 1x8 pin, i was wondering if i could use an 8 pin in the 6 pin slot on one of my gpu power connectors.

If you don't have the correct connectors on your current PSU then it is not the correct PSU for your application. Do not use adapters as they can and will cause problems.

It's fairly rare for PSUs to offer 8-pin PCIE connectors on the side that connects to the GPU; they're almost entirely 6+2 connectors. In the vast majority of cases, if you see a solid 8-pin connector, it's either the side that connects to the PSU or not a PCIE connector at all. But we're left to guess because of the lack of information provided.
