Question would it be possible to swap a i3 380M for an I7 640m on a laptop

so i'm doing some homework on a old laptop i've being given, its a toshiba l670 right now it has a i3 380M and from what i can tell its not soldered into the MB and uses the G1 socket , i know i will need to swap a chip with integrated graphics. im well skilled in building and the cpu's are of the same relative tdp and architecture

and these are the chips of the same family as the i3 380M

Unless your laptop model came with that CPU as an option, it's a guess if it will work. Make sure you are on the latest BIOS and try it. Laptop motherboards don't take CPU swaps as easily as standard desktop motherboards, even if the CPU fits, and is from the same range of CPUs, they may not work.
