I'd like to upgrade my monitor to a 27" monitor but don't know if it makes any valid sense to do so. I keep waffling on the issue. My current monitor is an Asus 24" VS248H-P R (1920x1080 resolution). It does not have have any dead pixels. I don't have any problem with it other than that it might be nice to have a larger monitor with a higher resolution (2K or 4K) and HDR.

My concern is that if I got a 27" 4K monitor, would I need to upgrade my pc in order to get the most out of the new monitor. I use my pc for the usual stuff - email, web surfing (YouTube), spreadsheets and playing older (ca 2000) RPG games like Morrowind and Baldur's Gate. It works well for what I do. I'm not involved in video editing nor into the shooter games out there. My pc hardware consists of an ASUS M4A89GTD-PRO/USB3 mobo, AMD Athlon II X3 440 CPU, 16 GB ram, and a PowerColor HD Radeon 6750. I specify a 27" monitor because a 32" monitor would not fit my space.

Thanks,

John

I don't think your GPU can even handle 4k. It would be pointless to get a bigger monitor because of gpu limitations. getting a 27'' 1080p monitor is also pointless. According to my sources 2560 x 1600 is the maximum resolution your GPU can handle.
