Hello all! I'm looking to put together a new gaming PC with an approximately $1000 budget. I'd love to get advice and alternate options, if you have them!

Approximate Purchase Date: w/in 7 days

Budget Range: $1000 after shipping / rebates

System Usage from Most to Least Important: gaming, some development work, a limited amount of streaming

Are you buying a monitor: No

Do you need to buy OS: Yes

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Amazon / Newegg, but not a strong preference

Location: Madison, WI

Parts Preferences: Intel CPUs

Overclocking: No

SLI or Crossfire: No

Your Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080

Additional Comments: Tower-only, already have Keyboard, Mouse, Monitors, Webcam, Speakers / Headset

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: The PSU on my 2013 build broke down, giving me a great excuse to upgrade (lemons->lemonade)

Current Parts List (will edit with suggestions) TOTAL = $1032.90

CPU - Intel Core i7-8700 3.2 GHz 6-Core Processor

MOBO - Gigabyte - H370 AORUS Gaming 3 WIFI ATX LGA1151 Motherboard

Memory - G.Skill - Aegis 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3000 Memory

HDD - Western Digital - Caviar Blue 1 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive

SSD - Kingston - A400 240 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive

Case - Cougar - MX330 ATX Mid Tower Case

PSU - Corsair - CXM 650 W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-modular ATX Power Supply

Optical Drive - Asus - DRW-24F1ST DVD/CD Writer

OS - Microsoft - Windows 10 Home OEM 64-bit

Very minor but I would try and get at least 2666 mhz ram. It's the same price but you get slightly better performance with it. https://pcpartpicker.com/product/FNprxr/gskill-aegis-16gb-2-x-8gb-ddr4-3000-memory-f43000c16d16gisb

Wait - why would you downgrade the RAM from 3000 to 2666? That makes no sense. If anything I'd get faster, not slower. Although I see the RAM links are messed up.

I think I would also swap that case for a Corsair 275R. These are some suggestions I would make:

PCPartPicker Part List

CPU: AMD - Ryzen 7 2700X 3.7 GHz 8-Core Processor ($279.85 @ OutletPC)
Motherboard: Asus - ROG STRIX B450-F GAMING ATX AM4 Motherboard ($119.99 @ Amazon)
Memory: G.Skill - Trident Z RGB 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory ($115.98 @ Newegg)
Storage: Samsung - 970 Evo Plus 250 GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive ($67.99 @ B&H)
Storage: Western Digital - Caviar Blue 1 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($45.35 @ Walmart)
Video Card: EVGA - GeForce RTX 2060 6 GB XC BLACK GAMING Video Card ($349.99 @ Amazon)
Case: Corsair - Carbide Series 275R ATX Mid Tower Case ($53.99 @ Amazon)
Power Supply: SeaSonic - FOCUS Plus Gold 650 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply ($89.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Total: $1123.13
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

Thanks for taking the time to respond! Unfortunately, your suggested build is over my budget (and I did want to stick with an Intel card). I will look into alternate motherboards, though, missed the limitation on RAM compared to what I have selected.

Thanks!

I didn't see the GPU until I clicked your link to Parts Picker. Looks pretty good. M came up with a good suggestion with the ASUS Prime Z390 Board. I use ASUS MOBOs and they have done very well. The ones I have used in the past were in the $150 range. I got a bit carried away on this last Upgrade and got a premium board of sorts.
