R710 specs: https://www.dell.com/downloads/global/products/pedge/r710-spec-sheet.pdf The physical connectivity that you have in mind being the following line diagram: PowerEdge R710 [Onboard LAN port] ---Ethernet cable --> [Router] ---Ethernet cable -->[LAN port on 4 port PCIe] Host pc. Edit/correct the line diagram as necessary. Other network devices? Add some details about how the system is currently configured and networked plus what changes (if any) you expect to make.
