Would my APU still benefit from faster RAM when IGPU disabled

I'm currently using an A8-5600k with a dedicated GPU (HD7870). Now i know that APUs perform alot better when using the onboard iGPU, but seeing as i'm only using the CPU part of the APU, will higher speed ram make a difference? Please Explain the source for your answer.

Wasn't sure if APU was different as AMD don't state the CPU and IGPU seperately but quote overall compute power. I wondered if the IGPU portion of the APU is still actually used for other things.

The IGP side benefits from the faster ram. Any program that can make use of a GPU, could use the IGP in an APU.
