Hi Guys,
I currently game on an Alienware X51, which I bought when I was just getting into the PC game. I know, that their overpriced asf for what they are so no need to remind me. I have a three 1080p monitor setup and try to run games on nvidia surround, but as you may of guessed my PC isn't amazing at doing that sort of thing.

I have been looking into parts for my dream gaming rig for a while but i kinda need to know from you guys if it would work. I am starting to get used to the PC lark but better safe than sorry.

I was hoping to achieve something like this:
PC boots up, from an SSD pretty fast and you are greeted with a GUI showing a windows icon and an ubuntu icon. if you choose ubuntu, it boots using a separate HDD which has ubuntu on it and vice versa with choosing windows.

If your wondering I currently work in remote linux support so having ubuntu is good for me.

So ill have all my games in windows, and work in ubuntu. I'd aim for a gtx980ti in my rig, and a motherboard that is future proof, meaning I can add more ram upto 128gb and more gpus at some stage in the future. It doesnt matter how big the case is, but it would go in a cupboard behind my room so cooling is a major factor when creating something like this. I do not know anything about cooling, not one bit. I'd like a fan controller on the front of the case and a disk reader.

As this is one of the best communities for this sort of thing, what setup would you recommend.
I currently lay high demanding games such as battlefront and arma 3, would like to get above 60fps no issues on ultra if possible.

If your suggestions could include prices that would be great,
Help me build this beast.
Thanks in advance,
Rob

Well,

Here's a build of a Dream Pc Build

NZXT h440 110$
Z170X G1 gigabyte motherboard 200-220
i7 6700K 420$ as of now
EKWB Predator 360 *for cpu+gpu cooling* 225$
ZOTAC GeForce GTX 980 Ti ArcticStorm connect the EK AIO cooler to it. 750$
Add Noctua fans anywhere you can
Evga 850W G2 135$
16GB DDR4 ram *enough IMO* 80$
2 TB SSHD 80$
480 GB SSD 120-150$
That's what I think of when I hear Dream PC
2000$ max, could get like a 980 ti SLI around the same price and cut a few things off, but this will last for 5+ years

Well the definition of "dream" I guess would entirely depend on budget before we start recommending systems. How much are you looking to spend? $1500? $1750? $2K? More?

If money is no object then this is what I'd recommend:
