hey i have no choice but to use a i7 4790s till after school so would this paired with a gtx 1060 (6gb) and 16gb of ram be sufficient for 1080p gaming. thanks

Good gosh YES. I only have a 4690K/970 FTW/8GB and am VERY satisfied with its high end gaming abilities. It isn't 1060/16GB/4790 high end so without a doubt you will be fine for at least a year or 3.

I use the 212 Evo to cool my 4690K.

There isnt alot of CPUs that are better for gaming than yours. You have nothing to worry about.
