I'm planning to put a GTX 550Ti into my PC that has a Core 2 Quad Q9300. Would it be compatible with shadowplay? If not, what should i upgrade? My GPU or my CPU?

Solution
ShadowPlay is now built into GeForce Experience, and Nvidia states you need a GTX 600 series card or higher to run it.

It would help if you mention a max budget for this and what PSU you have. If you have at least a 350 watt PSU, at about $140 to $160 range I'd personally go with a GTX 1050 Ti. Reason being you can find a 650 Ti for under $100, but it's generally stuff that only has a 90 day warranty. The 1050 Ti also has over twice the power and twice the VRAM, 4GB, which would allow you to run modern games.

More affordable version with less robust...
