Would my Xeon work on this motherboard?

Hey guys so i was wondering if my Intel Xeon X5460 CPU would work on a Asus P5G41T-M LX2/GB REV 1.01G motherboard. The Xeon is already modified to fit.

Maybe, you will have to mod the motherboard as well. Then hope the mobo's bios will support it. Here is a guide on how to do it below. If something involves taking a knife to your motherboards socket, i'm not going to say for sure if it will work. Only way to know is to try it, good luck.

That site says my cpu and mobo are compatible, so thats good.

I dont know lol. Technically no they are not, you will not find that cpu on your motherboards compatibility list. You yourself are making it compatible by modding it. That guide I linked says your chipset is compatible, but I have no idea if your motherboards bios will be. The only way to know for sure is to find someone else who did this exact same mod and had success, or to just try it.

Oh right okay thank you i understand now, so do you think updating the bios to the latest version would make it compatible?

Hopefully, that guide says to update to the latest bios so that's what I would do. If it doesn't work maybe try an older one.

I think i found an article saying my exact motherboard works with all xeons.
