Would portable fan help graphics card from getting hot

Hey, this is gonna sound like a dumb question but could I use a portable fan blowing away from the computer propped up against the back of it against the graphics card slots to help keep the graphics card from getting hot by sucking the hot air away from the graphics card? I don’t think that will have much of any effect you need a better case that has better cooling options
