P35 or X38 are best. ASUS Maximus Formula BIOS has been developed for extreme tweak. E8400 is a better choice, but if you are set on Q6600 works well too.
Asus X38 (or the new x48) chipset boards oc like crazy....

I think the X38 line is a waste of money for users that aren't looking for a Crossfire Solution. The P35 is perfectly capable of a high OC on any chip.
ASUS has 'upgraded' the BIOS for 'extreme' overclocking with the X38 Republic of Gamers boards like the Maximus Formula X38. I find the new BIOS t be a huge improvement.

That's one reason I went with X38-DS4. Couldn't wait to see a 3870x2 when they offered that in crossfire.
But now I'm headed out somewhere :/

Anyways, this board will get around 475MHz with F2 bios.
