Would the R9 290 work in my HPE H8-1120?

I have a HPE H8-1120 computer (info here) with the below case specs -

Mid-size ATX

Bay size
13.33 cm (5.25 inch) ODD (2 bays)
8.89 cm (3.5 inch) HDD (2 bays)

I am thinking of buying an R9 290 but am unsure of whether it will fit in my case. Any insight would be appreciated.

On that note, does anyone know if there any R9 290 cards that are shorter than average? I would probably look into getting one of those since it's going to be a tight fit.

Also, I upgraded the PSU to 750 watts, so that won't be an issue.

One other thing is I'm not sure where you're power cables are connected on your video card. A lot of them are on the top but there are some that I've seen at the other end so make sure of that. I know what you missed, making your own PC instead of a premade. :)

Check the measurements of the card from head to toe with the case and where it will be and if it's ok then you should be fine.

Bean,

Thanks for the info. I'm going to open the case and try to measure.

Joseph,

Just to clarify, I have a high quality 750 watt PSU that I've been using for a while. I'm currently running a GTX 560 ti, which works fine. Unfortunately, my motherboard will not work with 700 series Nvidia cards, apparently because HP never bothered to do a bios update (there are lots of online discussions about this). However, I'm not seeing any indications that Radeon cards have had similar issues with the motherboard.

However, I still need to figure out the length issue with the R9 290. I will measure to see what things are looking like. Like I said, if someone knows of a shorter-than-average version, I'd be interested.

I just opened the case and measured, and I have more than a foot of open space running along the video card slot. The R9 290 is apparently around 11", so it looks like it will fit. I'm concerned that I"m missing something, though.

Thanks for all the help, guys. I went ahead and bought an MSI brand R9 290 - It's among the smallest versions of the card, and by all appearances it will fit. If there's a problem, I'll just look into getting a new case and motherboard.
