Would these be good for upgrades?

So the GPU and Mobo are seemingly broken and I think I will salvage the RAM PSU and CPU plus my two 80gbs hdd. The rest is gone due to damage.

CPU: FX 8350 Vishera
RAM: 4x2gb Kingston HyperX Blu
PSU: CX750 Corsiar.

The parts I am looking at are:
GPU: Asus 750ti 2gbs
Case: cougar spike micro atx mini gaming tower
Mobo: Asus M5A78L
CPU cooler: Titan CPU Cooler TTC
Wifi: Media 300
Optical Drive: LG DVD Writer/burner

What I had:
GPU: R9 280x 2gb
Case: Zalman mid tower Z1
Mobo: Biostar crap
CPU cooler: stock Came with FX8350
Wifi: didn't get last time big mistake
Optical: """

So I am trying to keep it under 300 and since I need a bit more portability I am going micro atx but the big thing is the GTX 750ti. I know my friend he had a 750 and it looked like he got a way better performance (and way less issues) compared to my R9 280x.

I am looking if this would be best in your guys opinion. This will be used for gaming. So I am hoping it will preform just fine running BF4, GTA V and the upcoming Battlefront game

Are you sure the CPU cooler will fit? the Spike isn't the largest case.
Do you know what actually happened to your motherboard and GPU?
The CX series PSUs are known to be low quality, and COULD have damaged the motherboard and GPU.

A 750ti does alright on BF4 and GTA5, but your 280x is quite a bit stronger than it.

Yeah it would fit. but I decided to cheap out and stick with the stock cooler since I am not overclocking nor plan to anytime soon.

What happened to the GPU and Mobo? Well, some one decided it was a great idea to ship it all in one piece. The Zalman Z1 case when arrived was dented EVERYWHERE. The side panels and most annoying the edge; this case was made out of steel and is fairly strong but it look liked they played keep away while their hands were covered in butter. Keeping it short I kept getting a black screen and after a third reseat of all the components I found two missing connectors on the GPU to PCI slot. Also the Mobo PCI slot seemed a bit pulled out of the mobo itself so I am not going to trust. I blamed the trip over was to harsh for the suspending GPU (and it is a heavy GPU)

Why a GTX 750TI? I am at a Jobcorp facility and even though I may have a good amount of money saved I still need to put back in what I take out so it will be cheap; but I do not like AMD anymore also so this will be kinda like a testing GPU to see if I get less problems with Nvidia. Why I do not like AMD is the amount of issues I had over the last three years of using two of their CPUs and GPUs while My friend has had his Intel/Nvidia machine with no issues besides a virus and a broken power switch (for a long time he used a makeshift power button it was a door bell and I got a kick out of every time I saw it) Also this is the same card my friend still has and has better performance in all his games with. I am certain I got a bad GPU since the paper stats lean to far towards the 280x when compared with the 750.

I got one last question though. I have 8.1 and I will be switching mobos without a disk and unless the activation key is really the number at the bottom of the properties window I am with out a key as well. What should I do? How big of a headache will this be? I remember switching from 7 to 7 and I still have nightmares!

Well, when you put the new motherboard in, the OS will recognize the difference and say you need to reactivate windows, and will give you a phone number to call. Call it and tell Microsoft you replaced a broken motherboard and they'll reactivate it for you.

You can however use Belarc Advisor to see your CD key for windows: http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html

The 750ti isn't bad, but it's kind of expensive for a card you're just going to replace, since you need a graphics card, maybe just a 730 is what you should get, it can "run" some games, just at very low settings, until you save up the money for a GPU that matches well with your CPU.

That motherboard isn't really good for OCing a CPU like yours, so it's fine if you use the stock cooler, just don't expect to be able to OC with it very much in the future, even with a good cooler.

I dunno if you bought this stuff new or used, but you can usually return it to the merchant you bought it from if it had sustained damage like it has as well.
