Haswell is new and more expensive. some people like to save money, even though theres a Tad bit better performance with Haswell against Ivy Bridge. Ivy is still good, not a huge difference

well if he buys a Haswell CPU he will need to buy a 4th gen MB. more money my friend, but its his choice.

If you're seeing the hardwares as a whole, going haswell will be more expensive since heneeds a new mobo.
His z77 mobo only supports lga1555 sockets while haswells are 1150.

Honestly, LGA 1150 motherboards aren't really much more expensive. If you want to split hairs, the money saved by getting the less expensive Haswell chip could make up the difference in motherboard prices, if any. Bottom line, for the same relative total price he could go Haswell and get better performance overall.

yes you have a good point. but theres not enough knowledge gathered up about how to troubleshoot these too since they are so new. I would wait a little longer buy one when you need to upgrade
