Would This Be An Excellent PC For My Needs?

I have put together a list for a new gaming (with great VR support)/a little video-editing PC I plan on building. This is my second time building.

I don't want to go over my budget: $1280.

Is there anything I can optimize (switch out) in my build specs for something that is less expensive yet would meet the following conditions?:

Must be able to:

  • - Run GPU-tasking Ultra graphics at a stable 43+ FPS (preferably much higher)

    - Allow me to play VR games with excellent graphics and FPS

    - Allow excessive multi-tasking (think Visual Studio IDE, Photoshop, FireFox, AND a game running at the same time)

These are my build parts: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/rfV38K (New: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/wkb8HN)
(I will be using an HDD, SSD, and Optical Drive from the first build)

Solution
Get a better PSU. GS / G2 / P2 are the good Evga Supernova PSUs, B2 is passable, the others are garbage.

I wouldn't spend that much on a case. Go for a Fractal Design R5 instead or a Phanteks Enthoo.

For your needs a 6850 would be better suited.
But on your budget its a fine build.
ASUS & Gigabyte boards are usually better than MSI
A Cryorig H7 is a better cooler for below 35$

I will say no without looking at the parts. EXCELLENT VR means a very nice 1070(preferably 1080) paired with a 6700K and 16GB RAM with an appropriate motherboard. Acceptable VR is a 970 paired with a 4690 or AMD equivalent. Good VR is a 1060 with a 6500K. Looking at the list an i7 6700K is hopefully going to be in that list. Hyperthreading is key with some of your programs, along with GPU assisted features that may be present in Visual Studio or PS. Now on to your list.

Nice. The 6700K is present. Looking good, so far.
212. Good budget cooler. Was actually expecting a Noctua DH 14 or H100i but the 212 is very capable with the 6700K, even when overclocked to 4.7GHz. Still good.

Z170. Good with a K chip. Was hoping for 8 SATA connections but 6 is still good. With 8/8/4 on your slots Crossfire or SLI is good to go. Nice. Very nice.

Good amount and type and speed of RAM.

And a sigh of relief as I see your 1070 SC. VERY good VR experience. I wouldn't call it excellent.

Very good case, if a bit overpriced.

Near Perfect PSU. The Supernova line is made for a build like your. Awesome choice.

And some nice accents.

1-10(10 being the best)? 7.8. No clue about the age, size, make or model number of the SSD. HDD? 7200RPM?

Gaming at 1080p, 1440p and VR will be handled with ease. 4K? Not certain.

Thanks for the recommendations - I switched out the MB, cooler, and PSU :)
