On the motherboard (ASUS) MAXIMUS VIII HERO.

I'm new to building and I'm a bit unsure about the dimensions of the motherboard (would it collide with the plastic doodads/RAM?), so I'm just wondering if anyone could give me a headsup. Thanks in advance :)

(planning to put it in the Corsair 750D tower, so there should be plenty of space in the case itself).

I see. Thanks for the additional tip : ) I was going to look into a GPU next (one card for now, maybe add another later for SLI/crossfire), and then RAM (Going for the Intel Core i7-6700K 4.0GHz CPU, I think). Money isn't really an issue as long as it isn't completely off-the-walls crazy, so any recommendations are welcome. Trying to make a very solid gaming PC with room for upgrades in the future. What would you say is "too high"? Thanks!

The absolute best GPU for gaming right now is the 980ti. If that's too much for your budget, a normal 980 or a 970 will do. Although the 970 is not in the same league as the 980's.

Nah it's not. GPU's are one of those things I don't want to skimp out on. I was also thinking about the 980ti already as well, although I'm not completely sure about what brand to get yet. The RAM I'm looking at right now is the Corsair Dominator (I heard ddr3/ddr4 isn't much of a difference, but I'm not really sure).

EVGA has really good custom coolers if you don't want a loud, hot-running reference cooler. The EVGA 980ti SC ACX 2.0 is really quiet and good.
For ram, i would recommend ddr4 with that build, it might not give a big performance boost, but ddr4 is becoming more and more useful every day with new drivers that support it. Also ddr4 works best with the new Skylake chips and mobo's.

Thanks for the tip! I think I'll go for DDR4, then.

I've been looking into the brands a bit and from what I've found out the ASUS STRIX seems to be very good performing and have very low noise, so it's the one I'm leaning towards now. I'm probably buying Corsair Dominator DDR4 2666 MHz. I'm thinking of just buying a couple of 8gb sticks, in case I ever need to upgrade to 32gb later. I currently have a 8gb RAM computer and it runs at like 60%+ RAM load only running the browser (granted with quite a lot of tabs), so... yeah, I could see it being useful since I love to multitask.

Edit: I'm thinking of grabbing the alpha version of the motherboard just for u.2 support later so I don't have to think about adapters and crap. But I'm just wondering, I've heard it has 2xm.2 connections, but on the specs it says 1x. Are you aware of how many m.2 SSD's I could buy for it?
