I was looking into this drive:

Which says here:

At the bottom of the page:

****
Fitment Notice:
The Pioneer BDR-S13UBK Internal BD / DVD / CD Writer's larger than usual front dimensions may not fit some 5.25 inch drive slots, meaning this drive may not fit in your Case.

Please confirm the dimensions of your Case's 5.25 inch drive slot(s) before purchasing this Pioneer Drive.

Drive Dimensions: 148 x 42.3 x 181mm / 5-13/16 x 1-21/32 x 7-1/8 inches

And this is the drive I am currently using: the GGW-H20L:

My case is the

Carbide Series 200R
CC-9011023-WW

While this LG fits, what I can't tell is if this Pioneer drive will. Is there a way to find out? I checked a less expensive Pioneer model, the BDR-212DBK, and it seems the size is almost the same:

DIMENSIONS:
148 mm x 42.3 mm x 180 mm (W x H x D)

break out a ruler and measure the opening and other dimensions. you have the ones for the drive already. do you have the room based on this?

Drive Dimensions: 148 x 42.3 x 181mm / 5-13/16 x 1-21/32 x 7-1/8 inches

measure your current drive. how does it compare? if it's smaller do you have the needed extra gap for the new drive?

those are 2 easy ways i can think of to see if it will fit. just break out a ruler and measure away :)

The GGW-H20L (which is an old drive just like this case) has

146 x 41.3 x 185 mm
W x H x D

Source:

While the BDR-S13UBK:

148 mm(W)×42.3 mm(H)×181 mm(D) / 5-13/16 in.(W)×1-21/32 in.(H)×7-1/8 in.(D)

So, this means the newer drive is a few millimeters bigger.

The problem it it's not depth. Is it?

This is how the old drive is currently installed:

So where do I measure to check if a new drive would fit there?

the manual says the dimensions include the front face plate. so that means you need the opening of the bay to be 148mm by 42.3mm for the drive to fit right.

looking at your current specs that means an extra 2 mm wide and 1 mm tall. based on the pics i am not sure you have that much room. i'd measure the very front of the opening to see the maximum it can hold. there looks to be a touch of extra space but just the pic can't measure it for me. if there is not that little bit extra space, then the drive likely won't fit without breaking out a dremal tool and trimming some plastic. that might not even be the answer depending on what the rest of the bay can hold. often it opens up once past the front plate, other times it is a bit tighter. depends on the case.

as a side note, that is a very nice looking drive. :)
